Begun by J. Sterling Morton in Nebraska, Arbor Day is a celebration of trees. Woodlands Edge plants more than 2000 trees each year, and Arbor Day is a day the residents get to participate in that legacy. The community comes together on this day to not only celebrate with the plantings of new trees but to also learn about the trees and what they have to offer us.
Arbor Day in Arkansas is celebrated the third Monday in March. For Woodlands Edge, it is celebrated with fun tree scavenger hunts, nature trivia, and other activities that help children learn and grow to become “Keepers of the Trees.”
“Arbor Day…which has already transplanted itself…to every state in the American Union and has even been adopted in foreign lands…is not like other holidays. Each of those reposes on the past, while Arbor Day proposes for the future.” ~J. Sterling Morton, Founder of Arbor Day.
